Should You Use Payroll Services

When you are running a business there may be a point, either at the very beginning or somewhere down the line, when you need to consider getting some payroll services. If your business is fairly small you may not be sure whether or not using payroll services is cost effective, so you should ask yourself some pertinent questions.

How many employees do you have in your business? This is a simple question, but probably the most important one. If only one or two people work for you than most likely you are not overwhelmed when it comes to payday. However, when your employee roster starts getting up to ten or more people, you may find that enlisting the help of a payroll services company can make better sense for everyone.

Do your employees work for commissions or regular bonuses? When you pay your employees a straight salary or hourly wage, figuring out what to pay everyone can be a fairly straightforward procedure. When commissions and monthly bonuses are involved, however, going over all the figures and determining percentages, etc, can be more trouble than it is worth. Enlisting the help of a payroll services company could help a lot in this situation.

Could your time doing payroll be better spent? Even if you only have a few employees, you may want to think about how much time it takes you to figure out pay and write and distribute paychecks. If this time could be spent more productively, such as concentrating on marketing or dealing with clients, then using payroll services could definitely be cost effective.
